Smayan Santhosh was born on 13th July 2011 in Mysore, India. He started his primary school in Scotland and after moving to Sydney in 2015, he continued his education at Homebush, Artarmon, and Matthew Pearce Public Schools. He is currently studying Year 7 in Cherrybrook Tech High School.
He started cricket at 8 years with Winston Hills Club and currently vice captains the Parramatta District U13/2 Team. A top-order batsman and tall fast bowler, he is still a work in progress, acquiring cricketing and life skills from experienced coaches. An avid learner who believes in arduous work, spends on average two hours every day on fitness and cricket training. Apart from cricket, he plays soccer and drums!
Smayan is the son of Santhosh Basavegowda and Sheela Ramakrishna, who both work in IT. His father played basketball and handball at University and District levels and is still playing cricket for Lane Cove Shires and Winston Hills Club. Smayan is the grandson of Late Prof Basavegowda who was an athlete and played cricket, volleyball, and carrom as well in inter-varsity lecturers’ tournaments.
