Welcome to Wenty Leagues Cricket Club, Sri Lankan Tours

Eleven promising young talented cricketers from Sydney will embark on a cricket tour under the banner of Wenty Leagues Cricket Club to Sri Lanka between 26th of December 2023 and 10th of January 2024. The squad comprises of five cricketers that are part of the Parramatta District Cricket Association and Northern District Cricket Association in NSW representative cricket.

The tour will enable our young cricketers to experience playing conditions in the sub-continent and compete against the boys who are part of the Sri Lankan junior representative cricket pathway.

The tour will also include various activities and excursions to enrich the boys’ experience on Sri Lankan history and culture revolving around the Portuguese, Dutch and British influenced, who colonized Sri Lanka over four centuries between 1505 and 1948.

SOS Childrens Villages Tour

The tour itinerary includes a visit and a social game with the kids of SOS Childrens Villages. The SOS focuses on a family-based, long-term care of children who have lost their parents. This is a not-for-profit organisation providing impressive care, training, and support to the orphans, with a mission to help them shape their own futures.

Visit to a Project by Roshan Mahanama Trust

They will also visit a project funded by Roshan Mahanama Trust. The Roshan Mahanama Trust was established with the aim of supporting and uplifting disadvantaged children in Sri Lanka. Our mission is to create a better future for these children by providing them with the necessary resources, education, and healthcare that they deserve.

To further advocate the organisations’ mission statements, the tour group will also make cash donations to the two organisations.

Wenty Leagues Cricket Club is delighted to be a part of the upcoming tour to the beautiful island of Sri Lanka. As someone who has had the privilege of embarking on this incredible journey with my own family in the past, I can assure you that you are in for an unforgettable experience filled with extraordinary moments and cherished memories.

It is my privilege as coach of the touring team to send a message through the tour souvenir. The tour consists of eleven outstanding cricketers from Sydney.Who I had the privilege of coaching for many years even prior to this tour campaign. My involvement in coaching and managing junior cricketers at Wenty Leagues and Parramatta District spans for more than 15 years. This squad comprises of some outstanding, successful junior cricketers from Sydney, who have the potential to represent their state and country one day.

I consider it a tremendous privilege to be asked to contribute a message to such an invaluable publication concerning a cricket tour to Sri Lanka by young cricketers from Sydney. Many cricketers from various countries travel to Sri Lanka to play cricket every year. Sri Lanka has an exceptionally good junior cricket program, and most of the cricketers who represent Sri Lanka benefited from the school cricket system.

Wenty Leagues Cricket Club, which maintains a close relationship with SOS Children's Villages Sri Lanka, has provided immeasurable support to the SOS family. In many ways, the club has been instrumental in raising awareness about the work we do here at SOS Children's Villages Sri Lanka. The club’s president Justin Isaacs along with their representative Ganesh Mylvaganam are dear friends of the SOS family in Sri Lanka. They have been longstanding supporters for many years now.

AIDEN KANAGARATNAM

Aiden did his primary at King’s School in Sydney and the Australian International School in Singapore. He started playing cricket competitively with Claremont Nedlands Cricket Club (CNCC) in 2022 after moving back to Australia and is developing his skills as a left arm fast bowler and middle order right hand batsman.

Akain Amuwalage was born at Westmead Private Hospital, Sydney on 10th of October 2010. He is a high school student at The Kings School Sydney and attended primary at Greystanes Public School.

Ariya just turned 12 in November. He is the opening bowler for the first eleven Kings primary school cricket team and Sydney Northern district Representative team.

Brendan Dinesh was born at Westmead Hospital, Sydney on the 11th of January 2011. He is a Year 7 high school student at Parramatta Marist High School and did primary at St Anthonys Primary School.

Dylan Moganathas was born at Westmead Hospital on the 4th of February 2009. He did primary at Darcy Road Public school and currently studying year9 at Northmead Creative and Performing Arts High School.

KRITTHIK KAMALANATHAN

Kritthik currently plays representative cricket for the U13 Div 2 Parramatta District Cricket Association. He also plays for his school’s junior cricket team as well as being one of the youngest members of the WCC development squad.

Nirupan Anand was born at Westmead Hospital, Sydney in 2011. He did his primary education at Carlingford West Public School. He is currently at The Kings School in year 7.

Rohan Pradeeparaj, born on January 31st, 2012 in Westmead, is currently a Year 6 student at Strathfield South Public School. His journey into the world of cricket began at the young age of 6 when he made his debut for Wenty Leagues in the 2018/19 season.

Smayan Santhosh was born on 13th July 2011 in Mysore, India. He started his primary school in Scotland and after moving to Sydney in 2015, he continued his education at Homebush, Artarmon, and Matthew Pearce Public Schools.
